At the time of the review, the Mammotion Luba Mini AWD 1500H was priced at about $3,199 Australian. The smaller 800 model started at $2,499. The Mini is a compact four-wheel-drive robotic mower designed for lawns of up to 1,500 square metres, with the all-wheel-drive system intended to help on sloped or uneven ground.
The box includes the mower, charging station, RTK base station, power adapters and spare blades. Setup involved attaching the camera module, positioning the charging station and mounting the RTK antenna in a high location. The app guided pairing over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with only a brief Wi-Fi reconnection issue during setup. The mower was assembled, connected and ready to mow in about 20 minutes.
The RTK tower only needs power and does not have to be physically connected to the mower’s charging station. Placing it high helps provide positioning coverage.
App features and mowing performance
The app supports multiple mowing zones, schedules, cutting-height adjustments and progress monitoring. The 1500H supports up to 15 zones and can travel between connected lawn sections when those paths are configured in the app. Built-in 4G allows cloud access when the mower is outside the home Wi-Fi range, including remote monitoring and stopping. An emergency stop button is also fitted to the mower.
The Mini uses a single cutting disc about 20 cm wide with six small blades. This is narrower than the combined cutting width of the larger Luba models, so a large lawn may take longer and require one or more recharging cycles. Runtime was roughly two to three hours per charge. In the review, one charge was enough to complete the tested lawns before the mower returned to its dock.
Cutting was reported as even, with the mower maintaining a medium height of around 25 mm and an available minimum of 20 mm. When it reached thicker grass, the blade speed increased automatically. Dense buffalo grass and the tested slopes did not cause it to bog down or become stuck. The mower can handle inclines of up to 38 degrees, according to the review.
Edges, safety and who it suits
Edge cutting was good but not completely flush against walls and other boundaries. Because the blades sit centrally, the mower left approximately a 5 cm strip along some edges. A small amount of line trimming or edging was needed after the first mow.
The Luba Mini is aimed at small to medium-sized, potentially complex lawns, including properties with separate lawn sections, garden beds, trees, play equipment and slopes. Its obstacle detection is designed to help it avoid children, pets and objects, although the review still describes scheduling it for suitable times as a sensible approach.
Compared with larger Luba 2 models, the Mini has a smaller cutting width and battery, but also occupies less space and costs less. The larger machines are intended for much bigger properties and cost more than $4,000 Australian in the examples discussed.
TechManPat’s conclusion
I think the Luba Mini is a strong fit for a medium suburban lawn, particularly one with slopes, multiple zones or several obstacles. Its navigation, obstacle avoidance and cutting performance impressed me, while the narrower cutting width and occasional auto-mapping limitations are manageable trade-offs. I would choose the Mini over a larger Luba unless I genuinely had a very large property that needed the extra capacity.
