A tracked design for difficult lawns

The Lymow One weighs about 35 kg and uses an aluminium frame with tank-style tracks instead of conventional wheels. The tracks are designed to improve traction across different surfaces and help the mower handle slopes. It is rated to climb slopes up to 45 degrees, described in the review as a 100% grade, and can roll over obstacles up to 5 cm high, such as small roots and bumps.

Front omni wheels help the mower maintain contact with the ground while cutting. The mower is also weatherproofed to IPX6, allowing it to operate in rain and around sprinklers according to the review.

Rotary blades and high cutting capacity

Mapping, navigation and obstacle detection

The Lymow One uses an RTK base station together with visual SLAM cameras to map the property. During setup, it drives around the yard and creates a digital map. Virtual zones can then be created in the app for areas such as flower beds, with support for up to 80 mowing zones and separate schedules.

The app includes many useful settings, although the review found that some controls were not immediately easy to find. After the zones were configured, it was described as more intuitive to use.

For obstacle detection, the mower combines AI vision, five ultrasonic sensors and a bumper sensor. During testing, it slowed down and moved around dog toys, detected the edge of a garden and avoided some objects. It also passed over pet waste. GPS tracking can trigger an alert and lock the mower if it is taken while armed. In my view, the Lymow One is the first robot mower I have tested that can genuinely replace a petrol or ride-on mower. I found it to be a capable workhorse that produced a clean lawn, but its high price, setup time and powerful rotary blades mean it is not a toy and needs to be used responsibly.
