Compact design and features

The SwitchBot K10+ Mini is noticeably smaller than a conventional robot vacuum. Its size allows it to travel under furniture and get closer to table and chair legs, including spaces where larger robots may not fit. A side brush helps it clean along edges, while its smaller vacuum roller means it may need to pass over areas more often.

The robot has lidar for navigation and an automatic emptying station with a 4-litre bin. SwitchBot states that the bin can last about 70 days, although actual use will depend on the home and how much dirt the robot collects. The vacuum is rated at around 2,800 pascals of suction.

Navigation and cleaning performance

The lidar navigation was considered better than that of many robots tested, particularly around a busy room containing children’s tables and chairs, adult furniture and narrow gaps. The compact body could reach areas that other robots might miss. Its vacuum intake is positioned behind the wheels, and the review found that the pressure on the rear of the robot helped it maintain contact with the floor.

In a sunken living room with wooden flooring, a large rug, dog fur, dust, debris and regular activity from children, the K10+ performed surprisingly well for everyday maintenance. It did not collect every small particle as effectively as a more powerful or larger robot might, but running it daily made the results good enough to reduce manual cleaning. It was also quiet enough to operate while people were at home.

The main navigation issue was that it sometimes attempted to enter gaps that were too tight and became stuck. Software updates from SwitchBot were observed during testing, so this behaviour could potentially change, but it remained a limitation at the time of the review.

Carpets, rugs and mopping

The small design becomes a disadvantage on fluffy rugs and thick-pile carpets. The K10+ struggled to climb onto these surfaces and could push the carpet instead. It was more suitable for hard floors and thinner rugs that did not require much of an edge or height transition.

The mopping feature is a wet wipe attached to the underside of the robot. It wipes the floor as the vacuum travels, but it does not provide the type of active mopping system found on dedicated vacuum-and-mop robots. The review therefore treats the K10+ primarily as a vacuum, not as a mopping device.

Who is it for?

The K10+ is aimed at homes where space is limited and a full-sized robot with a large base would be inconvenient. Potential use cases include a studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment, a small home, or a second level containing only one or two rooms.

Its compactness is useful where furniture creates many narrow spaces, but buyers should not expect the same overall cleaning performance as a larger robot. It is most practical when run regularly, after an initial thorough clean with a handheld vacuum, and when there are no thick carpets or plush rugs to climb. At around A$700, it is also not an inexpensive option compared with some full-sized robot vacuums that include more capable mopping systems. Availability in Australia was uncertain at the time of the review.
