Parts used in the build

The central component is the ASUS Prime X870-P WiFi motherboard, which includes Wi-Fi 7 and four M.2 NVMe slots. It is paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 8500G, described in the video as a six-core, 12-thread entry-level to mid-tier processor with a maximum speed of 5.05GHz.

Preparing the motherboard

Pat begins outside the case by installing the Ryzen processor, taking care not to touch the contacts underneath. The CPU’s triangle marker is aligned with the marker on the socket before the retention mechanism is closed.

The Crucial SSD is fitted into the motherboard’s first M.2 slot, closest to the CPU. The slot’s passive heatsink is removed during installation, and the protective sticker on its thermal pad is removed before the heatsink is replaced. The SSD is secured by the motherboard’s tool-free plastic clip.

For the two memory modules, the guide uses the second and fourth slots from the CPU, labelled A2 and B2 in the motherboard manual. Pat notes that a single module would use A2, while three modules are not recommended in the referenced configuration.

Case preparation and airflow

The ASUS case’s panels are removed using clips. Three fans are installed at the front as intake fans, while a fourth fan is installed at the rear to exhaust warm air. The guide uses the visible frame of each fan to determine its airflow direction.

The case’s motherboard standoffs are checked against the mounting holes, with the standoffs already installed in this example. The motherboard is then lowered into place, aligned with the standoffs and rear ports, and secured without overtightening the screws. The motherboard’s integrated rear I/O shield means a separate shield does not need to be installed.

Power supply and cable routing

The ASUS Prime 850W Gold PSU is fully modular and is described as ATX 3.0 compatible, with an eight-year warranty. Pat installs the 24-pin motherboard cable, two eight-pin CPU cables and an eight-pin PCIe cable for the Radeon RX 7600. The guide notes that the number of CPU power cables required depends on the motherboard, and that not every system needs both.

The PSU is installed in the case with its fan facing the bottom ventilation area. Front-panel USB, USB-C, audio and power switch cables are routed through the rear of the case and connected to the appropriate motherboard headers. An ARGB splitter is used because the build has more lighting connections than available headers.

CPU cooler and graphics card

The Ryujin III cooler’s AMD mounting hardware replaces the motherboard’s original CPU mounting brackets. Its tubes are positioned towards the right side, and the radiator is mounted at the top of the case with its fans configured to exhaust hot air.

The cooler’s pump connects to the AIO pump header, while the LCD screen connects by USB. The magnetic, daisy-chainable fans use a shared connection for power and lighting, according to the guide.

The RX 7600 is installed in the top PCIe slot, closest to the CPU. Two rear expansion slot covers are removed, the card is pressed into place until it clicks, and it is secured with two screws before the eight-pin power cable is connected.

TechManPat’s conclusion

I think the finished build looks sleek and minimalist, with the white and black parts working well together. In my view, the all-ASUS approach made the assembly smooth: the parts fitted together without spacing problems or misaligned screw holes. This video does not include gaming or benchmark results, but I plan to cover performance testing and Windows 11 installation in follow-up videos.
